Finance Manager — Accounting & FP&A

Accounting & FP&ARemote — USFull-time

Overview

This is a hybrid accounting and FP&A seat for someone who wants to own the financial operations of a venture-backed company and shape the strategic finance function as we scale. You'll run the books, close the month, manage the audit, and also build the budget, run the forecast, and partner with leadership on the decisions that actually move the P&L. Early on, you are the finance function. As we grow, you'll build the team and the systems around you.

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly close: GL accounting, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Manage revenue recognition under ASC 606, including deferred revenue schedules and contract modification handling.
  • Own AR, AP, payroll coordination, expense management, and the month-end reconciliation loop.
  • Maintain the chart of accounts across multiple entities and ensure intercompany transactions are clean and auditable.
  • Prepare for and manage the annual audit and tax engagements, coordinating with external firms.
  • Own the annual budget and the rolling forecast, partnering with department leads on headcount, spend, and investment planning.
  • Build and maintain the operating model: bottom-up revenue build, unit economics, cohort analysis, and sensitivity testing.
  • Run monthly variance analysis — actuals vs. budget vs. forecast — and deliver the commentary that leadership and the board actually use.
  • Produce the monthly and quarterly investor and board reporting package.
  • Partner with the CEO and CRO on pricing, packaging, and deal economics.
  • Support fundraising: data room hygiene, investor diligence responses, and the financial narrative in the pitch.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of combined accounting and FP&A experience, with clear hands-on ownership of both sides.
  • CPA preferred and strongly weighted in the hiring decision.
  • Strong US GAAP fluency, with real ASC 606 experience.
  • Prior experience in a venture-backed SaaS company, ideally at seed through Series B stage.
  • Advanced Excel and/or Google Sheets modeling — you build models that other people can read, audit, and extend.
  • Working knowledge of modern finance stack tools: QuickBooks Online or NetSuite, Ramp or Brex, Bill.com, Gusto or Rippling.
  • Clean written communication — your variance commentary should read like prose, not spreadsheet captions.
  • Ownership mentality — this role is the finance function, not a contributor inside one.

Nice to have

  • Big 4 or national accounting firm background earlier in career.
  • Multi-entity accounting experience (consolidated statements, intercompany eliminations).
  • Exposure to 409A valuations, cap table management (Carta, Pulley), and equity accounting under ASC 718.
  • Experience supporting a seed or Series A fundraise from the finance seat.
  • Familiarity with SOC 2 Type II control requirements for finance and accounting processes.
